Weeding at the Library

Summertime is weeding time at the Golisano Library and our team has been hard at work on our weeding projects:

Print Journal Subscriptions – We are preparing for our annual renewal of print & online journal subscriptions by reviewing our list of 688 titles. Under consideration are those titles that are also available online and those that have minimal use.

Reference Collection – Continuing work that was begun by Phillip Koyoumjian during the spring semester, Al Krober is directing the weeding of the print reference collection to make sure we will be providing the most recent information to our library users who still rely on print materials.

Stacks Maintenance – Under the direction of Charley Canon, Collection Services Librarian, and our dedicated student workers, the book collection is being shifted to relieve overcrowding on the shelves. In addition, our shelf reading project (using our new ShelfLister software), has resulted in repairing some materials and the removal of some duplicate copies.

Plants – Sally Green, our Collection Services Assistant, did a complete inventory of the Library’s plant life (over 50 specimens) and, with input from the team, has downsized our greenery to a healthier level and more manageable.
