Erin Bennett Attends ALA Conference

The American Library Association Annual Conference was held in New Orleans, LA this year. Along with exploring the wonderful city, the conference had some insightful and useful sessions. One of the main highlights was the opportunity to hear Michelle Obama as the opening speaker. She talked about her love of reading and the importance of libraries both in her childhood and adulthood. Some of the other sessions included how to use the information literacy framework in instruction, how to engage students and emphasize the value of information literacy skills, using open educational resources, and even a session on fake news. Overall the conference was informative and inspired ideas for how the Golisano Library can provide better services to our students and campus community.
