Matthew Ballard Attends 2019 Snezek Library Leadership Institute

Matthew Ballard, Director of Library Services, had the opportunity to participate in the 2019 Snezek Library Leadership Institute led by the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) at Dallas Baptist University, July 17-19. The overall theme of “What is under your umbrella?” encouraged discussions about newly adopted services and roles in academic libraries at Christian colleges and universities. In addition to attending sessions on the impact of non-traditional library services and integrating theological values into academic libraries, Matthew presented a session focusing on the transformation of traditional libraries/librarianship entitled “What Are Academic Libraries Doing These Days?”

The institute commenced with a keynote address by Dr. Mark Herring, Dean of Library Services at Winthrop University, entitled “Are Libraries Obsolete?” Attendees also had the opportunity to visit the George W. Bush Presidential Library located on the campus of Southern Methodist University. The annual leadership institute provides Library Directors at CCCU institutions a unique opportunity to engage in a collegial exchange of ideas within the context of personal Christian commitment. Next year’s Snezek Institute will take place at Corban University in Salem, Oregon.
