Great First Lines!

Never judge a book by its cover! But how about its first line? Books with great first lines are featured in this month’s display at Golisano Library. All it takes is one sentence to get hooked! Experience the laughs, jaw-drops, and chills these books elicit from page one. Great first lines make great books, and many of these first lines are famous, such as “Call me Ishmael” from Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. Others will be new to many, including “We went to the moon to have fun, but the moon turned out to completely suck” from M.T. Anderson’s Feed. Whether you’re revisiting a classic or picking up something new, these great first lines will draw you in from the start!
